| On-Site Business Units
We now have a number of business units on site at Deeside Activity Park. It all began in 2008 when Rob James of Deeside Brewery mentioned that he was looking for larger premises. As the major stockist of his beer and with so much space here, it made sense for him to move into the 2nd half of the new bay we'd built to house our own butchery. The move took place in January 2009 and has further cemented the relationship between Deeside Activity Park and Deeside Brewery.
We were then approached by Andrew Nicol Forestry Consultants, who at the time were based in Aboyne. Andrew was hoping to move from a draughty, old, energy guzzling building, into something a little more environmentally friendly, and he was particularly taken with the Deeside Activity Park site.
This got Ken thinking. If we were going to build one, then why not build two? And so the long planning and building process began, and by January 2010, the first of the units was ready, and we welcomed Andrew and his team to the Centre. They specialise in forest and tree management, tree planting and restocking, landscaping and woodland design, timber harvesting and marketing.
At that time, we were still looking for a tennant for the second unit. We had had a number of consultations with potential businesses, but so far none had seemed quite right. Then we discovered that the Cambus O'May Cheese Company were looking to relocate from their temporary premises in Torphins, whilst awaiting completion of their own place at Cambus O'May. We have been stocking their cheese for a number of months and knew that they had the same ethos as us, quality local and traditionally produced food. It was obvious that they would fit perfectly into our team. So in March 2010 we were delighted as they moved in.
Below is an artists impression of the new units. Unfortunately, with the rough winter we've been experiencing here, the landscaping has not even begun yet. But once they are looking good, we'll get some new pictures up.
